Spotting Scopes, Better than Ever!

Spotting Scopes, Better than Ever!

by DJ Featherton

Today’s technology has brought so many improvements to our everyday lives and activities.  This clearly includes birders. High tech cameras inside bird houses, binoculars that let you see at night and contain cameras for spectacular photos, cell phones and more.  Now, as I try to stay current, it’s my turn to update my antiquated spotting scope.

Years ago, I bought my first spotting scope. I was so proud!  It could attach to my car window and had a substantial tripod for steady long- range viewing.  Soon, however, I found this bulky device to be better for stationary targets in a small viewing area like nests etc., so I ended up leaving it in the car.  This gave me more freedom for birding with just a good pair of binoculars.  Well, that was then, and this is now!

Spotting scopes are necessary and have their place. These scopes can be purchased with the optics, magnification levels, and fields of vision for any birder to enjoy.  Some scopes have cameras built right in.  Terrific! There are no particular name brands that I endorse. In fact, there are many brands of highly specialized products that I’ve never heard of.  I’m more interested in what the device is and does.  This is my latest excitement…

The Gosky Titan 20×80 Astronomy Binoculars are giant binoculars that let you use both eyes comfortably!  Very cool!  Further, the Titan has a digiscoping phone adapter that lets you see your sought-after images and take photographs using your cellphone.  This all attaches to a tripod for steady viewing.  This different kind of spotting scope is perfect for birders as well as wildlife photography, general sightseeing, and stargazing. I guess that’s why they’re called “Astronomy Binoculars.” My family has been stargazing for years, and I know the Titan product will be well received. Living on Florida’s east coast, we get to see what’s blasting off from the Cape if the weather’s right. These giant binoculars will come in great.

My purchase has not yet been made due to a selection issue.  Gosky also has the Titan 25×70 Astronomy Binoculars. I want to be sure I make the right choice. For that matter there are other manufacturers that produce giant spotting binoculars, too. I suggest you go shopping to see if you agree. These giant binocs are right up my ally, and I’m pleased to share about my discovery.
